BRIDAL VEIL FALLS

Image
There is so much beauty in this part of the country. Yesterday we had to drive to the Salt Lake City area which is only 2.5 hours away. I know that's not a long drive but we still decided to stretch our legs on the way. So we stopped at Bridal Veil falls which you can see from the Highway. Incredible isn't it!

A Few Running Pictures

The pictures from the 10K race that Jadon and I ran a week or so ago, were just posted. These pictures show the beauty of "Sheep Creek Canyon" where we ran. I'm the one in the baggy t-shirt. I forgot a coat so Jadon let me where his shirt. It makes me look like a 3 year old in dress-up clothes

The Long Awaited Backpacking Trip

Image
On our way out to Kemmerer we stopped at Cabelas and bought sleeping mats for backpacking. We thought that we get a chance to use them a lot before it started to get cold, but somehow life has been too busy for that until this past weekend. We were finally able to get away and backpack in the Wind River Mountains. We hiked 5 miles up to Mirror Lake and spent the afternoon fishing. Jadon caught 2 nice sized trout and I caught 4 tiny ones. One our way in we passed a few people on their way out and they all told us that they had seen lots of fresh bear tracks around Mirror Lake. So considering that I want to live past 25 and I'd like to keep all of my limbs and my husband we hiked before dark and slept in our Expedition. In these pictures it looks like it's warm but don't be fooled. It was cold! There was a frigid wind coming down off the mountains and it probably got down to freezing during the night. So since the trailhead closes in September, fairwell to backpacking

Tower Rock Run

I actually have something exciting for my blog. On saturday Jadon and I ran a 10K race in Manila Utah. It's just over the border, about 2 hours from Kemmerer. A 10K is 6.2 miles. I ran the same race three years ago and I loved it so when we moved out here Jadon decided to sign up for it. Anyways, on to the good stuff - I won the race in my age division!!!! There were about 90 people in the race. I came in 16th overall and I came in first in women 19-29 years old. There probably 20 women in that division so it was huge accomplishment. I finished in 43 min. 37 sec. which means that I was running 7 minute miles. I used to think I ran 8.5 minute miles, but I guess I proved myself wrong. I also got $25 for winning so it was altogether the best race ever. Jadon did really well to. He finished 22nd overall, 4th in his age division, his time was 46.26 and he also ran faster than he ever has. He was doing 7.5 minute miles. I think we were both thrilled with how we did. It was cold and dri

The Ideal Saturday

Yesterday was an "Audrey" kind of day. We went for a 6.5 mile run in the morning. The trail we took had a few more hills than I planned but it was still so wonderful to be running through sage brush in the wide open dessert. Then after a leisurely lunch at home in the sun we hiked to the top of Oyster Ridge. Oyster Ridge is a massive hill, (or maybe it's mountain, I don't know) that runs along one side of Kemmerer. We've wondered what was on the other side so we had to climb to the top to find out. It was beautiful! We could see forever. In fact we could see the Wind River Mountains which are about in the middle of the state and we could see the Unita Mountains which are in Utah. Amazing! It's not every day you get to look across half a state. A storm was rolling in as we hiked up and the clouds were incredible to watch. The pictures don't even do it justice. After our hike we ate supper at a little diner and then header home for the n

It's been ages since I last blogged. We're living with a couple in the church right now and so life still feels like it's in transition and I haven't had a chance to just sit down at a computer and do anything other than "business". So yesterday I decided that I need to make a point to blog because it's relaxing and freeing to do, and I don't want to disappoint all of my readers ;-) Early Monday morning my sister, Heather had her twins and so yesterday Jadon and I were able to go to Salt Lake City and visit her and all of her precious boys. Micah was born first and Noah was born 18 minutes later. Being a twin myself, it was amazing to see both of these tiny, beautiful boys. They are so small! It's an awesome thing to see the incredibleness of God's creation in their tiny little bodies. Heather now has 5 boys and of course a husband so she really is living in a "man's world". If anyone can do it though, she can!
